I really can’t say enough good things about this product from C-Command, they’ve done a wonderful job, and although I don’t understand the full mathematics behind it, I know it’s simple and elegant. Go buy it now (after buying a Mac of course)

Sending Live a MIDI signal to start recording an audio track, and then the same MIDI signal to stop recording is cool, but what if you don’t like that take? You have to walk over to your computer and press the Cmd + Z keys, or Delete, then start again.
How frustrating…
Enter MidiPipe a little utility that gives you full power over any MIDI signal entering your computer. The thing that really got me drooling over this app is that you can run AppleScripts from a MIDI signal!! But really, how cool is that? I’ll tell you… it’s tubular cool.
The guy that made it, Nico Wald, seems to have his finger on the button, the app is designed very intuitively, as all Mac apps seem to be.
Not only that, it comes with a default environment for Live!, so just load it up, change MIDI signals to suit and control Ableton Live right from your MIDI Controller… oh yeah baby, I’m digging it. You could even program your Mac to start podcasting your set via a simple MIDI command hooked into an Applescript, it’s just beautiful.
